Ryzen™ CPU, graphics card blockbuster AMD Q1 Q1 revenue surged 71%: exceeding $5 billion for the first time

In the early hours of this morning, AMD released its Q1 2022 financial report, achieving revenue of $5.89 billion (expected $5.52 billion), up 71% year-on-year, and the first quarter in the company's history to exceed $5 billion in revenue.

This quarter's revenue included some of the revenue after the acquisition of Xilinx, which contributed about $560 million, but after excluding this revenue, AMD's overall performance continued to rise sharply, also exceeding $5 billion.

In terms of profit, gross profit was $2.82 billion, up 78% year-on-year and 16% month-on-month, gross margin was 48%, up 2 percentage points year-on-year and down 2.4 percentage points month-on-month, while net profit reached $786 million, up 42% year-on-year, but down 19% month-on-month.

AmD's two business units, Computing and Graphics, contributed $2.8 billion in revenue, up 33% year-over-year and up 8% sequentially, amD said Ryzen™s CPU and Radeon graphics cards performed strongly, as the average ASP price continued to rise and operating profit reached a record $723 million, compared to $485 million in the year-ago quarter.

The Enterprise, Embedded & Semi-Customized divisions contributed $2.5 billion in revenue, up 88% year-over-year, and in addition to their OWN EPYC server chips, PS5, Xbox and Steam Deck also contributed double-digit growth.

In addition, in addition to the strong Q1 quarter, AMD's expectations for Q2 and the full year have also increased, with Q2 expecting revenue to rise to $6.5 billion, full-year revenue to $26.3 billion from the previous forecast of $21.5 billion, while gross margins as high as 54%.
