On June 2, Samsung Display shut down its last LCD production line this month,Samsung therefore boarded the CCTV financial channel, caused industry attention.According to the report,A unit of Samsung Group will shut down its last liquid crystal display, or LCD, production line this month.

Samsung's LCD products have been losing competitiveness for five or six years. On the one hand, the advantage of leading global competitors in core technology is getting smaller and smaller; on the other hand, the product price is difficult to reduce due to cost pressure. Samsung Display has decided to shut down its LCD production line in stages due to declining profits.

According to the Korea Display Industry Association,South Korean companies' market share in the global LCD market dropped to just over 10 percent last year, down from more than 40 percent in the past.

It is worth noting that, especially in the TV market, LCDS are still the most widely used choice, as TVS, computers and in-car displays are currently mostly powered by traditional LCD panels. Hence reports that Samsung will purchase LCD panels from suppliers such as BOE and Innolux, while focusing on OLED panels itself.

LG Display, South Korea's other big display maker, is also shrinking its LCD business and, like Samsung, is turning its attention to OLED.
