In January 2021, a British District Court made a ruling and rejected the demand of the United States extradition. The reason was that Asanic had mental illness such as depression and had a higher risk of suicide after being extradited to the United States. In December 2021, the British High Court made a ruling that allowed the US government to extradite Asanic, and at the same time, the High Court transferred the case to the District Court for follow -up process. The Westminster District Court of London issued an extradition order in late April this year and officially approved the extradited Asanic to the United States.
