IT House News on August 5th, Microsoft recently released the game development tool package (GDK) in June 2022. The new version brings a lot of new functions and improvements. Although the issuance description is mainly aimed at the technical terms of developers, the company also released a video to explain some improvements in performance plans.
According to Microsoft, the latest June GDK will bring memory performance improvement for the $ 299 Xbox Series S game console. Xbox Series S is 200 US dollars cheaper than Series X. The former has a streamlined configuration specification, including the memory subsystem. Xbox Series X is equipped with 16GB memory (10GB @ 560GB / s, 3.5GB @ 336GB / s). Xbox Series S only has 10GB of memory, of which 8GB is 224GB / s bandwidth, while the remaining 2GB supports 56GB / s. After GDK in June, the developers of Xbox Series S will have more memory to use.
Microsoft said: "Xbox Series S developers can now use additional memory of hundreds of trillion bytes. This allows developers to better control memory and improve the graphics card performance under limited conditions."
Speaking of graphics cards, the latest GDK has also improved graphics virtual address allocation, so that some of the recent enhancement functions in memory management technology can be used.
