Sources say Intel 3nm Gpus are jumping to 15 generation Core

It was recently reported that Intel has cancelled almost all orders for TSMC's 3NM, which was due to debut with Apple next year and will be used for the core GPU unit of the 14th generation Core, the first time an Intel processor sub-unit will use an external advanced process.

The 14th-gen core is expected to have 192 Xe units, which is 2-3 times the size of the current 12th-gen core, but without 3nm technology, the size will be reduced by a third from the rumored 128 Xe units.

There should be no 3nm process unit in the 14th generation Core now, but Intel will still use 3nm process for OEM, after all, the external N3 process has been clearly defined in the previous roadmap. Also known as TSMC's 3NM foundry, the latest leak claims that this 3nm GPU core will be used in the 15gen Core.

The 15th generation core code-named Arrow Lake is expected to be released in 2024. The CPU part uses the 20A process, which is the first Emmier-level CPU process, supporting the RibbonFET and PowerVia technologies, achieving about 15% improvement in performance per watt.

Arrow Lake's specifications have not yet been confirmed due to the early days, but MLD reports that the microkernel is called Lion Cove and offers a double digit IPC performance improvement over Golden Cove, which is more than 10%.

Arrow Lake also uses an LGA2551 slot, which is compatible with next year's 14th generation core Meteor Lake.
