China Unicom chairman: 5G meals are cheaper than takeout in a single month, so no big cut in tariffs
In a speech at the World 5G Conference on August 10, Liu Lihong, chairman of China Unicom, emphasized that Chinese carriers offer cost-effective 5G services. "Some netizens joked that a monthly 5G package is cheaper than ordering a takeout lunch."
Liu emphasized that Chinese operators provide cost-effective services, with traffic revenue growth of only 0.7%, average tariff half of foreign tariff, and ARPU value (average revenue per user) equal to 18% of the US.
Liu Lihong also said that the rigid growth of 5G network construction and operation costs, traffic charges can not violate the law and continue to fall significantly.
He said 5G has brought consumers new experiences with improved quality, such as big broadband, resulting in a burst of traffic growth. DOU(average monthly Internet traffic per household) has reached 15 gigabytes, twice as much as in the early days of 5G licensing.
Liu said 5G is just beginning to promote the upgrade of new information consumption, and there will be more creation in the future. In the future, 5G will also accelerate the integration of the digital economy and the real economy, and expand to broader areas such as the Internet of vehicles and the Internet of Things.
