Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. recently applied to register a number of dog head image graphics trademarks and "wechat creative expression" trademarks, international classification including advertising sales, education and entertainment, communication services, the current trademark status is the registration application.
In recent years, wechat, Weibo, QQ and other platforms have launched dog-head and Erhar emojis, which have successfully become popular in China.
Home of IT has learned that the dog head emoji originated from a Shiba Inu in Japan named Kabosu, whose owner posted a photo of him online in 2010 and the dog quickly went viral worldwide because of its outrageous expressions. Tencent is not alone. Weibo and ByteDance have also applied for the trademark.
In 2021, Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. previously applied for the "dog head" trademark officially completed the registration, the international classification of the trademark related to fitness equipment, furniture and so on. It is reported that Tencent applied for the dog head trademark in February 2021 at the earliest.
