There's no doubt that Apple is in a hurry, and even if EU rules are to be harmonised, it won't be until 2024, so the iPhone 15 interface issue can be fuddled for a year.
According to a supply chain update,Apple may not use USB-C in all of next year's iPhone 15 series, which is in keeping with their usual approach.
Supply chain sources said,The higher-end version of the iPhone 15 series is likely to start with USB-C, while the lower-end version will continue as it is now, as a way to incentivize users to buy more expensive versions.
On Thursday, the European Council approved the use of Type-C charging ports for all mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras and other electronic devices sold in the European Union from 2024. Consumers will also be able to choose whether to buy a separate charger when buying an electronic device.
According to the announcement, laptops will be allowed a 40-month grace period to use the unified charging port. It is estimated that this could reduce e-waste by 11,000 tonnes a year.
Apple has said it will support the announcement, but they haven't said how, and certainly can't say.
Some Apple related accessories manufacturers said that even if the iPhone is cut into the USB-C interface, then Apple also has the means to let people to obtain relevant certification, after all, it is a closed system, and the volume of iPhone is not comparable to iPad, so making money is the first priority of Cook.
