Foreign media surveys show that among 56 major product and service categories, South Korea had the world's largest market share in five last year. Samsung Electronics is also the world's largest manufacturer.
Specifically, Samsung Electronics' top five market shares are DRAM, NAND flash memory, OLED panels, ultra-thin TVS and smartphones.
Samsung Electronics' share of the global DRAM market was 42.7% last year, up 1 percentage point from the previous year. The market share of OLED panels fell 4.5 percentage points to 60.1 percent.
In addition to Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix and LG also lead the world in market share of several products. The former is second only to Samsung in DRAM market share, LG is second only to Samsung in ultra-thin TV market share, and LG is second only to Samsung in OLED display panel market share.
In DRAM, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix account for 71.3 percent of the total. In OLED panels, Samsung Electronics and LG Display had a combined market share of 82.2%. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix also account for 47.1 percent of NAND flash memory.
