Twitter users' perception of hate speech has improved since taking over the social networking platform, Elon Musk tweeted today. According to Musk,The amount of hate speech Twitter users are seeing is down by a third from its initial peak earlier this month.
IT House understands that, citing The Independent, Mr Musk is following a policy of "freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach", prioritising reducing hate speech on the platform.
Musk said he will give people the freedom to say what they want on Twitter, but if the tweet contains hate speech or harmful content, then it will be less visible and fewer people will see it. The new Twitter owner also said that the initial spike in hate speech, which was mostly posted by 1,500 accounts, reduced the perception of hate speech among users by reducing the reach of posts.
