Apple buying Manchester United? Source: That's not true

On Nov. 24, British tabloid The Daily Star claimed that Apple could buy English Premier League club Manchester United for $7 billion. But MacRumors, citing sources familiar with the matter, says Apple has no plans to do so.

The gossip began on November 22nd when United's board announced a plan to "explore strategic options", including a possible sale of the club.

The Glazer family of the United States is the majority shareholder of Manchester United. When the Glazer family bought Manchester United in 2005, there was a massive fan Kangxi game. Because most of the Glazer family's money comes from short-term financing, fans fear it could saddle the team with heavy debt. Last season United had their lowest points total in the Premier League and their transfer debt reached £184m, the highest since 2008.

While Apple has no plans to buy Manchester United, it has been making inroads into sports content. In June, Apple signed a 10-year deal with Major League Soccer. Apple will have exclusive rights to live streaming on MLS from 2023 to 2031.

Back in March, Apple made its first foray into live sports, signing a seven-year, $85 million "Friday Night Baseball" deal with Major League Baseball.

Apple is also widely expected to bid for contracts to stream live sports in the NBA, WNBA and NASCAR over the next four years.
