Not long after AMD's new generation flagship card RX 7900 XTX was launched, it was discovered that the public version of the design was flawed and that Hot Spot hotspot temperatures could reach up to 110°C, resulting in wildly spinning fans, extreme noise, reduced frequency and impaired performance.
AMD initially denied that there was a defect, but later admitted that there was a problem with the thermal design, adding that the number affected was small and would not be recalled.
Recently, Scott Herkelman, senior vice president of AMD and general manager of the Radeon Graphics Division, finally spoke publicly about the matter.
He noted thatA small batch of RX 7900 XTX has a problem with the true cavity even heat plate, in which the coolant (water) is low, affected players can contact the aftermarket to return the repair.
However. According to a survey by authoritative hardware media Igor'sLab, the RX 7900 XTX has a return rate of 9-11% in the German market.
In fact, Igor Wallossek, editor-in-chief of Igor'sLab, was one of them, and the response he received when he contacted AMD's German after-sales service was not as smooth as stated.
The stock is out of stock and cannot be exchanged, and it is not certain when it will arrive, but you can return it for a refund.
Of course, the 9-11% return rate does not mean the same failure rate, do not exclude some players because of other reasons or fear of problems, but even if you remove half, there are about 5%, quite high.
RX 7900 XTX before the market, AMD has revealed that the first batch of 200,000 pieces of stock, according to the 5% failure rate is 10,000 pieces, even if 1% also has 2,000 pieces.
“Fortunately” for some reason, the RX 7900 series of public cards are not available in the domestic market, domestic players do not have to worry about this.
