IT House classroom: the Commissioners Court Court in Williamson County announced in December last year that the road formerly known as "Future County Road" near Samsung Taylor's new semiconductor plant had been renamed "Samsung Highway".
Samsung finalised the construction of a $17 billion advanced chip factory in the city in November 2021 to "power the next generation of innovation and technology and advance advanced logic semiconductor solutions".
It takes into account a variety of factors in selecting the site, such as "local semiconductor ecosystem, infrastructure stability, local government support and community development opportunities". It is also close to Samsung's current manufacturing base in Austin, about 25 kilometers southwest of Taylor.
