According to IT House on January 16, Kyung Kye-hyun, head of Samsung Electronics Semiconductor Department, said on personal Instagram on Friday.Construction of the new semiconductor plant in Taylor, Texas, is progressing smoothly and will be completed within this year as planned.

Samsung finalised the construction of a $17 billion advanced chip factory in the city in November 2021 to "power the next generation of innovation and technology and advance advanced logic semiconductor solutions".

It takes into account a variety of factors in selecting the site, such as "local semiconductor ecosystem, infrastructure stability, local government support and community development opportunities". It is also close to Samsung's current manufacturing base in Austin, about 25 kilometers southwest of Taylor.
