The 2023 Spring Festival Travel rush will last 40 days from Jan 7 to Feb 15, according to previous official news.

It's nearing the end, and according to the latest data released by China Railway's official public account,By Feb 7, 385 million tickets had been sold during the travel rush, with the largest number being 13.25 million tickets sold in a single day on Jan 28, the seventh day of the Chinese New Year.

Yan Zhiyuan, head of technical Service Department of Railway 12306 Science and Technology Innovation Center, introduced:"At the peak, more than 1,000 tickets were sold per second, close to the peak in 2019."

According to ticket data, travel demand for tourism, family visit and work has increased to varying degrees. The "inventory" of tickets changes in real time with the combination of origin and arrival, and the amount of data and computation grows exponentially.

As the world's largest online ticketing system with the largest number of visitors and transactions, the railway 12306 system has been continuously enriched with features and improved services, officials said.

For example, the latest railway smooth code function has been online in more than 3,400 sets of bullet trains across the country. Passengers can scan this QR code to check the train is late, operation location, train continuation, traffic connection, terminal weather conditions and other travel service information, but also can upgrade tickets, find lost items, order food and other services.

The standby ticket function has also been improved and upgraded. Passengers can submit five standby tickets each day for two adjacent dates to the same or different stations in the same city, up from two each.

During the Spring Festival travel rush this year, the success rate of waiting lists was about 75 percent, officials said.
