As the killer of Ada Lovelace architecture, the new DLSS 3 adds frame generation technology to the original DLSS super resolution to generate new frames instead of pixels.
The principle is to analyze the difference between the current frame and the previous frame, and get a new frame through the AI algorithm, that is to say, on the basis of DLSS 2, DLSS 3 can directly double the frame rate of the game.
The delay generated by a frame generated out of thin air reduces the picture delay by binding the NVIDIA Reflex.
In order to make the frame insertion more realistic, DLSS 3 also introduces New Optical Flow Accelerator (Optical flow Accelerator), which can accurately calculate the light and shadow of two consecutive frames, as well as the direction and speed of particle flow, so as to achieve a more accurate shadow reconstruction effect by calculating motion vectors and optical flow.
In the absence of an optical flow accelerator, when an object moves fast, it will generate the wrong shadow.
The optical flow accelerator will capture the information such as particles, reflection and illumination in each pixel, and find the matching pixel area in the second frame, calculate the difference between frames, and finally get accurate shadow reconstruction.
Therefore, the frame generation technology of DLSS 3 is not a frame generated out of thin air. For games that support DLSS 3 technology, you just need to turn it on without a brain to enjoy a high frame rate.
