In December 2022, Loongson completed the 32-core Godson 3D5000 prototype chip verification, while Intel's new strong W-series processors up to 56 cores, CPU frequency up to 4.8GHz.

Although Godson is not a global leader in technology, it is very useful to China. Godson has always insisted on independent research and development, all the functional modules in the chip, including the CPU core, all the source code are independently designed, and all customized modules are also independently developed. Therefore, Godson is a domestic chip in the real sense, which realizes autonomy and security, so that China has a general processor in the field of personal computers, servers and other information fields. it has an important guarantee for the security of China's cloud computing, data center and other industries.

This time, the United States has included Godson on the entity list, apparently to crack down on China's general-purpose processors, and then on China's personal computers and servers.

The US ban on Godson also has an impact on Chinese supercomputers, AI and other fields. As early as 2015, the United States banned companies from exporting technology to Chinese facilities related to the world's fastest supercomputers, but China later did not rely on Intel chips. but relying on domestic chips such as Godson also built supercomputers comparable to those of the United States.

China has replaced the United States as the country with the largest number of supercomputers in the world, according to a list released by the highest-performance computer TOP500 in 2017. The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported at the time that China now has 202 of the world's highest-performance computers. By comparison, there are only 143 in the United States.

This may be one of the reasons why the United States is so angry with Godson. But can the United States really stop the development of Godson and Chinese supercomputers, servers and other fields? That's wishful thinking.
