Earlier this year, Microsoft announced a massive layoff involving tens of thousands of jobs.
Now, Microsoft pushed forward with layoffs, firing the entire ethics and social team (ethics and society team) in the artificial intelligence unit.
It is reported that after the team is laid off, Microsoft will no longer set up a special team to ensure that the principles of AI and product design are closely related, but will still retain the Office of Responsible AI department, which is responsible for setting rules for the AI project.
For this layoff,Microsoft's official announcement is as follows:
Microsoft is committed to developing artificial intelligence products and experiences safely and responsibly, and to achieve this through staffing, process carding, and partnerships.
The Microsoft Office of Responsible AI team has expanded rapidly over the past 6 years, working with other Microsoft departments to promote the landing of the AI project.
Microsoft thanks the existing ethical and social teams for their contributions and continues to promote responsible artificial intelligence.
