When Windows 11 was released, Microsoft enabled it by defaultVirtualization-based security (VBS), Hypervisor mandatory code consistency check (HVCI)The two features have caused a lot of controversy, and many people are worried about whether they will affect performance.
Recently, Windows 10 also seems to have VBS turned on by default.
To this end, Tom's Haredware specifically did a comparative test to see if VBS really had an impact on game performance.
The test system is the latest version of Windows 11 64-bit Professional Edition. The hardware configurations are: i9-13900K, RTX 4090 (528.49 driver), MSI MEG Z790ACE, Zhiqi Trident Z5 DDR5-6600 16GB x 2, Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus-G 4TB.
A total of 15 games were tested, including 6 Guangchui, 6 DX12, 2 DX11 and 1 Vulkan. Each game tested four levels of 1080p image quality, 1080 high picture quality, 2K high picture quality and 4K high picture quality.
The result is quite astonishingA total of 120 sets of data were compared, and as many as 118 sets of data improved after shutting down VBSThe only two decreased by 0.1% and 0.2% respectively. It is totally an error.
On average, the average frame rate of 15 games has been improved by 2.1% at 4K and 5.3% at 1080p, that is, the lower the resolution and the lower the image quality, the greater the difference, and as many as 26 groups have changed by more than 5%.
Among them"Microsoft Flight Simulation" increased 11.2% at 1080p low picture quality, making it the most influential. The other three sets of settings have also been improved by about 9%.
The change of the lowest frame of 1% is even greater, ranging from 4.9% to 8.7% at different resolution, but it is not linearly related to the resolution and image quality, and the 2K high picture quality is the most prominent.
The change of the lowest frame of 1% is even greater, ranging from 4.9% to 8.7% at different resolution, but it is not linearly related to the resolution and image quality, and the 2K high picture quality is the most prominent.
The most exaggerated is "Total War: warhammer 3", which is improved by an exaggerated 37.7% in 1080p HD and 28.6% in 2K HD!
So, if you are a gamer, it is best to turn off VBS manually, and the method is very simple.
Simply find and open the Windows terminal (administrator) in the start menu, enter the following command, and then restart the computer:
bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
How do I check if virtualization-based security is turned on? Equally simple, the Win+R shortcut key opens & ldquo; runs & rdquo; window, enter & ldquomsinfo32& rdquo;, can find it.
