According to industry sources, Samsung's semiconductor chip factory in Taylor, Texas, has been affected by "inflation".The original investment budget increased from $17 billion (IT House Note: about 117.3 billion yuan) to $25 billion (IT House Note: about 172.5 billion yuan), an increase of $8 billion.

Samsung Foundry finalised a new semiconductor plant in Taylor City in May 2022, with an initial budget of $17 billion. Samsung subsequently announced that it would expand the factory's floor space by 176.76 acres.

Samsung Foundry began purchasing equipment for the plant in December 2022; in January 2023, Samsung CEO Kyung Kye-hyun confirmed that the construction of the semiconductor plant was on schedule and would be completed on schedule.

The latest Reuters report says the plant's construction budget has increased by $8 billion as materials have become expensive. Another source added that if Samsung delays the construction of a semiconductor plant in Texas, the budget will rise further due to factors such as subsidies.
