According to a new report from market research firm IDC,In the fourth quarter of 2022, only 30.5 million PC displays were shipped worldwide, down 18.3 percent from a year earlier.
That was worse than the 16.2 percent decline that had been expected,It is also the worst record since IDC began tracking the PC display market in 2008.
For the whole of 2022, the global PC display market shrank 5.9 percent from the previous yearAnd will grow by about 5 percent in 2021.
The reasons are predictable: the macroeconomic downturn, the impact of the pandemic and weak demand for both consumer and commercial displays.
And that's not all.IDC expects the global PC display market to fall another 9.8% in 2023, worse than this year.
But as inventories are depleted and the economy picks up,By 2024, the PC display market will be back to normal, with projected growth of more than 4%And will continue to grow slightly every year until 2027.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, PC display shipments averaged 125 million units a year. From 2018 to 2020, PC display shipments are expected to exceed 135 million units each year, barely exceed 120 million units in 2023, and hover around 150 million units in the following years.
From the manufacturer's side,Dell, which claims to move the PC industry chain out of China, has maintained a share of more than 20% without any challenge.
HP, Lenovo, TPV and Samsung are all over 10%, with HP leading by a small margin.
