According to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint, global smartphone sales fell 12% in 2022 from a year earlier, but sales in the global high-end mobile phone market (priced at more than $600) increased by 1%, accounting for more than 55% of global mobile market revenue.
The report points out that the reverse growth of the global high-end mobile phone market is mainly due to the following reasons.
The overall economy is not in the doldrums in 2022, but affluent consumers are less affected by the macro economy than consumers at other prices.
Consumers are more and more inclined to buy high-end devices and use them for longer.
In addition to mature markets such as North America, emerging markets show the same trend.
The report points out that among OEM manufacturers, apple's sales in the high-end market increased by 6% year-on-year, expanding its share, accounting for 3/4 of total sales in this area. Apple's growth would have been more pronounced had it not been for the disruption of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max supplies during the 2022 holiday season.
In addition, the construction of Apple ecology also promotes users to choose to buy "family buckets". If an iPhone user still owns Apple Watch or Mac, then the next personal smartphone upgrade is likely to be iPhone.
