According to CCTV News, on March 29,Longyin 9, the world's largest and China's first 10,000-ton ocean communications cable laying ship, was launched in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province.

The ship adopts full electric propulsion and dynamic positioning control system. The ship is classified into China Classification Society, and the research and development, design and manufacture of the whole ship realize complete autonomous control.

Longyin 9 is 155 meters long and 23.2 meters wide. It has a endurance of 60 days, a maximum speed of 15 knots and a one-time cable carrying capacity of 10,000 tons.It can complete the laying of submarine cable across the Pacific Ocean from China in one go. It is China's first 10,000-ton DP2 ocean cable laying ship that flies the Chinese flag and is classified into the China Classification Society.

After completion of construction, the ship can meet the navigation of unlimited navigation area, can carry out DP-2 dynamic positioning, fully electric propulsion system, low energy consumption, support cable laying services, and support burial, maintenance and other related Marine engineering services.It is the first Marine engineering cable laying ship in China, which can reach the world first-class level after completion.

The ship has fully realized independent development and domestic construction in the aspects of cable laying system, new lifting equipment, electric propulsion of the whole ship, and has owned core technology patents, realizing domestic substitution.

Further outfitting will be carried out after the launch of the Longyin 9, which is expected to be put into service in September, it said.
