At Google I/O this morning, Google introduced its new PaLM 2 AI language model, which it will use to upgrade its Bard conversation bot and Google Search.
But in the face of an onslaught from Google, Microsoft doesn't seem to be backing down.
According to The Information,The head of Microsoft's Bing division wants to work with Mozilla to make Bing the default search engine on the Firefox browser, replacing Google.
Mozilla's current contract with Google expires this year, so Microsoft wants to bid for the right to use Firefox as the default browser.
If Microsoft can finally beat Google,That will increase Bing's reach and market share.
According to Phil Ockenden, Microsoft's chief financial officer,Every bit of share Microsoft gains in the search advertising market creates a $2 billion revenue opportunity for Microsoft's advertising business.
That's the main reason Microsoft is trying to expand Bing's reach.
