Tesla will try to spend money on advertising, Musk said Tuesday at the company's shareholder meeting.
That would be a major change for Tesla, which has spent almost nothing on advertising for the past 20 years and has been known around the world for its free communication between owners and the media.
At the shareholders' meeting, Musk acknowledged that Twitter's advertising business was in trouble, with the company recently losing $40 million because "two sizable advertisers" were unhappy that their ads had been labeled misleading by Community Notes.
For years, Musk has said that Tesla has no need to advertise because he claims the company can't keep up with demand for its cars. But now his attitude has changed. He pointed out thatBy showing off features that people might not know about, Tesla could benefit from advertising. "We'll try to advertise and see how it goes."
No doubt, as one of the world's largest social platforms, Twitter will also be one of Tesla's main advertising areas. Twitter is suffering from an advertising crisis, and Tesla's arrival is a win-win situation for Mr Musk, the boss of both companies.
