A video posted online shows a Tesla Model Y burst into flames in California on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The vehicle was reported as a total loss. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Bishal Malla, the car's owner, said that as the vehicle approached the highway ramp,Something like a flat tire came from the undercarriage and the car began to shake uncontrollably. Instinctively, he thought the tire was damaged and pulled over to check.
When he got out of the car, there was smoke around the vehicle and an open flame under the undercarriage. The fire grew until the vehicle was completely destroyed.
The owner then contacted Tesla's official customer service, who told them that road rescue services were not available for completely burned vehicles. When the owner contacted customer service again, another customer service officer advised the owner to "take the vehicle to the Tesla after-sales center by himself."
"Tesla customer service was useless," said the car owner, who said in an interview that he was lucky to be alive and was speechless at what had happened.
Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident,The damaged car will be recovered by the insurance company and the owner will be offered a brand new Model Y.
