After reaching the top of the AMD CPU processor and GPU accelerator card a year ago, ldquo;Frontier” has achieved three consecutive championships and continues to remain at the top of the list, which is so far the only publicly proven and practical 10 billion secondary supercomputing.

In the whole list, there are 121 systems using AMD platform, an increase of 29% over last year.12 of the top 20 are from AMD.

Fontier should be familiar to everyone. In June last year, it overtook Japan with a performance advantage of 50%-ldquo;Fugaku”, became the world's number one supercomputer, and its performance even exceeded the sum of the second to seventh places at that time.

This supercomputer uses a combination of AMD Trento EPYC 7A53 64 core processor (Zen3 architecture) and AMD Instinct MI250X GPU accelerator card, with 4.6PB DDR4 memory and 37PB hard drive.

But after it reached the top, it did not lie flat, but constantly adjusted and optimized.

With the same hardware configuration and 8699904 CPU cores, Frontier's floating-point performance grew by another 17% in a year, reaching 1.194EFlops (11.94 billion beats per second).

In fact, the extra 92PFlops (9.2 trillion beats per second) performance alone has surpassed the eighth on the list & ldquo;Perlmutter”.

Frontier also holds the world record for HPC/AI mixed accuracy test HLP-MxP, and raises the score from 7.9EFlpos to 9.95EFlops, infinitely approaching the billions of times mark.

In the HPCG test, which focuses more on system-level performance, Frontier finished second with a score of 14.05 HPCG-PFlops, second only to 16 HPCG-PFlops of Fugaku in Japan.

In addition to its unbeatable performance, Frontier is also very energy efficient.

In another green overcalculation list, Green500, the Frontier TDS test system ranks second, with a performance per watt of 62.684GFlops (62.684 billion times per second) and a gap of just 4 per cent from the top one, ldquo;Henri”.

The complete Frontier system also ranked sixth.

In fact, seven of the top ten Green500 lists are based on the AMD platform, and the second to seventh places are based on a combination of AMD EPYC and AMD Instinct.

Today, Frontier supercomputing has been fully put into practice, serving a variety of scientific research work, such as the Cancer distributed Learning Environment Program (CANDLE) to improve cancer treatment and prolong the life of patients, WarpX to design particle accelerators, ExaSky to study cosmological phenomena such as dark matter, and so on.
