Arm32 APP, or 32-bit mobile apps, are about to encounter the darkest hour.
At Microsoft Build 2023, a technical document showed that 32bit ARM programs will no longer be supported, including future versions of Windows 11 and the next generation of Windows.
One potential background may be that Qualcomm's self-developed Oryon CPU based on the ARM instruction set will no longer support 32-bit.
The revelation shows that Oryon CPU will be used as the big core of Snapdragon 8 Gen4 and is widely used in Windows on ARM notebooks.
In other words, both Windows 12 and Snapdragon 8 Gen4 will abandon 32 bits completely, and maybe Snapdragon 8 Gen3 in the second half of the year will take the lead in cutting 32 bits.
In fact, Apple announced as early as 2015 that iOS apps must support 64-bit apps, and then officially cut 32-bit apps on iOS 11. On the Android side, Xiaomi recently issued a notice asking developers to no longer allow 32-bit apps to be launched and updated on Mi Store from May 8, 2023.
From July 1, 2023, only 32-bit apps will be gradually cleaned up in mainstream app stores such as OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, and so on.
