May 30, 2016 -- Apple's 2023 Rainbow Sport watch band, which uses a random algorithm to generate colorful geometric patterns, appears to have "overturned," with a number of buyers reporting mold flaws in the pattern, including some Apple Store display bands.
A number of sources have previously reported uneven dye coverage when the band was punched, parts of the pattern breaking off at the band's punched edges, and uneven patterns at the band seams, which actually don't match the official rendering of the geometry extending into the band's holes.
IT House went to the Apple Store to investigate the case and purchased the watch band specifically for testing, and the result was true. An Apple Store employee said, "Maybe this is the way the watch band was designed. If you are not satisfied with this situation, you can replace it in the store."
The 2023 Apple Watch Sports Rainbow Band was released on May 9, 2023. It is the sixth year that Apple has introduced rainbow band for Apple Watch. It will be officially sold in Apple Store from May 25, priced at 379 yuan.
Apple said the new sport band design was inspired by the strength and beauty of the LGBTQ+ community and showcased the colors of the original rainbow flag, adding five other colors: black and brown to represent the African-American and Latino communities and those who have died or lived with HIV/AIDS; Light blue, pink and white represent transgender and non-binary people.
This year's design combines a white base with joyous multicolored geometry, molded onto the band, Apple said. During fabrication, the base material flows around each individual figure, creating subtle differences in distribution. Each band is unique and represents the uniqueness of each member of the LGBTQ+ community.
