SpaceX won a nearly $90 million contract in Mexico to help the government provide free Internet services there

On Nov. 16, a Mexican government official revealed on Wednesday that Starlink Satellite Internet, owned by SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, has won a contract worth 1.56 billion pesos ($89.8 million) to provide free Internet service in Mexico by the end of 2026.

Carlos Emiliano Calderon (Carlos Emiliano Calderon), Mexico's digital strategy coordinator, said at a regular morning news conference that SpaceX won the contract because it had the most favorable offer in the open tender.

Calderon added that Mexico had signed contracts with nine companies, including SpaceX, to provide free Internet services.

SpaceX will also provide infrastructure services to the Mexican state energy company by December 2026, according to the documents.

It is reported that the contract value of SpaceX Star chain's cooperation with the Mexican Federal electricity Commission (CFE) is between 887.5 million pesos ($51.28 million) and 1.8 billion pesos ($104 million).
